HISTORY/INFORMATION:
CapRadio started out in 1970 as student-operated KERS at Sacramento State. Nine years later (1979), KERS became KXPR, broadcasting classical music, jazz, news and public affairs programming to central valley residents. In 1987 Capital Public Radio incorporated as a private nonprofit organization. Today, we are 7 stations strong, serving the Capital Region, Central Valley and Sierra Nevada with news, music, entertainment and civic engagement at the core of our services.
