Friends of Sacramento Arts
MISSION:
Friends of Sacramento Arts is committed to the complete restoration of arts education for all students in Sacramento County public schools by providing funding, mobilizing arts advocacy and developing strategic partnerships.
HISTORY/INFORMATION:
The Creative Edge Culture Plan was released in 2018 after a year-long study to determine the status of arts and culture in the community. The results of the study indicated that arts education is the number one goal of the Plan. Friends of Sacramento Arts was established and a consortium was formed to include Sacramento County Office of Education, Metropolitan Arts Commission, Sacramento Region Community Foundation and the Sacramento Mayor’s office to address the goal. Friends of Sacramento Arts, alongside the consortium, acts as a catalyst and funder to fulfill the arts education goal of the Culture Plan. Friends of Sacramento Arts is governed by a 16-member board of directors and their executive director, Allison Cagley, a non-profit professional with 30+ years experience in fund development, strategic planning and advocacy for education and the arts.
