Dedicated to support, performance, research and practice by women, queer, of color, and transgender artists. We honor the full spectrum of cultural and gender identities.
HISTORY/INFORMATION:
We are a not for profit organization supporting artists y community in Sacramento and beyond. During Pandemic we have focused on mutual aid, community care and providing artist support and fiscal sponsorship for projects including Bernard Brown, BBMOVES Dance:
Bernard Brown/bbmoves, founded in 2014, began as a call to action. Inspired by the arts and social justice movements of the past and present, Bernard Brown/bbmoves aims to serve as a conduit for the oppressed to express their voices. Artistic Director, Bernard Brown, has been featured in the New York and Los Angeles Times for his Dance Activism.
MacBETH Project:The MacBeth Project was built out of a community outcry for more African American representation in the classical theater arts. MA Series: An experimental music series and conversation around women in music/sound Art/improvisation/and composition. And this year we will be expanding projects and operations thanks to the California Arts Council - TBA. Also, announcing a new play "Smart People" directed and produced by J.
