CARBON ZERO ART CONTEST
CARBON ZERO ART CONTEST
The Mayor's Office is very excited to launch an intern led Carbon Zero Art Contest in partnership with the Office of Climate Action and Sustainability and SMUD. For a cash prize of up to $500, the Carbon Zero Art contest is seeking local youth ages 14-24 to develop creative art pieces that promote sustainability, demonstrate the need to reach carbon neutrality, or help others understand the urgency of fighting climate change.
Contestants will be divided into three age brackets ranging from 14-15, 16-18, and 19-24 years old. One contestant in each bracket can win $500 dollars for first place. There will also be two $100 second-place prizes, and six honorable mentions worth $50 each. In March, winners will be notified by email and the contest will culminate with an online gallery featuring the winners in each age category.
Our climate emergency is urgent, and young people have shown a great deal of leadership in their efforts to bring the rest of the world towards a greener future. Our goal is to elevate youth perspectives through art while also rewarding them for their effort and insight.
The Carbon Zero Art Contest is open to all youth who live or attend school in the City of Sacramento and the submission period is open from now until February 24th.
